Legazpi Tower-House

It is popularly known as "Legazpi House" as it is the birthplace of Miguel López de Legazpi (1500/1502- 1572), colonizer of the Philippine Islands.
This tower house was built in an era known as "War of Sides" (14th-15th centuries), a period before the birth of Miguel. In the "War of Sides", during prime feudal period, the feudal lords, divided into "oñacinos" and "Gamboínos", wanted to assign the Gipuzkoan territories to themselves. Thus, began the war between them.
